About URI-Klearpath Urinal Pipework Descaler

When the pipework beneath gents’ urinals becomes blocked with hard deposits of uric acid and limescale, the result is unpleasant and disruptive — urinals begin to smell, overflow when flushed, and washrooms may need to be closed entirely. Traditional fixes involve calling a plumber or using hydrochloric or sulphuric acid descalers, both of which are caustic, dangerous to handle, and risk damaging pipework and fittings.

URI-Klearpath was developed as a safer, more effective alternative. It is formulated specifically to dissolve uric acid and limescale deposits found in gents’ urinal waste traps — and nothing else — meaning it is non-caustic and has no effect on pipework, joints or fittings of any kind.

Because it is non-caustic and non-fuming, URI-Klearpath can be used without closing the washroom, and delivers results in just 10–20 minutes — a fraction of the time and cost of arranging a plumber visit.

How URI-Klearpath Works

URI-Klearpath uses a unique delayed-action technology to transport its active ingredients deep through the pipework before they begin working. Unlike traditional acid descalers, which activate immediately on contact with uric scale build-up at the point of application, URI-Klearpath travels freely through the drain and pipe system first.

This delayed activation is what makes URI-Klearpath effective throughout the entire pipework system, including sections that are physically difficult or impossible to reach — areas that would otherwise require a plumber to access and clear manually. Once activated, the active ingredients dissolve uric acid and limescale deposits, opening up the pipework for faster, more effective flushing.

Because URI-Klearpath is formulated to target only uric acid and limescale, it is non-caustic — it will not damage pipework, joints or fittings, and is safe for use on plastics, stainless steel and ceramics.

Compatible Urinal Systems

URI-Klearpath is suitable for use across all common gents’ urinal systems, including:

Standard flushing grate & trough urinals

Including urinals with water flushing on a timed or activity-based timer.

Waterless or waterfree cartridge urinals

Compatible with common waterless and waterfree cartridge systems including Falcon Aridan, Ideal Standard Aquanil, Sloan, Bobrick, Hybrid H²O and eZ-Trap, among others.

Reduced-flushing bacterial urinal sleeves

Compatible with reduced-flushing bacterial-based urinal sleeve systems including PHS Ecoshield, Eco-Clear and Whiffaway, among others.

Available Sizes

URI-Klearpath is available in 500ml, 1L, 5L, 10L and 20L sizes to suit single washrooms through to large multi-site facilities management contracts.

  • 1 x 500ml treats a standard single urinal
  • 2–3 x 500ml required for larger trough urinals
  • Larger 5L, 10L and 20L sizes available for multi-urinal sites and facilities management contracts

Key Benefits

Avoids the cost of a plumber call-out

URI-Klearpath’s delayed-action formula reaches deep into pipework that would otherwise require a plumber to physically access and clear. For facilities managers, this can mean significant savings on emergency call-out costs, particularly for blockages located deep within the system.

Safe to use without closing the washroom

Because URI-Klearpath is non-caustic and non-fuming, there is no need to close the washroom or post warning signage during treatment, unlike traditional acid-based descalers which pose skin burn and fume inhalation risks.

Fast results, no equipment damage

URI-Klearpath works within 10–20 minutes and leaves pipes clean with no damage to pipework or joints. It is safe for use on plastics, stainless steel and ceramics, making it suitable across mixed-material washroom installations.

Targeted formula — won’t harm fittings

Unlike hydrochloric and sulphuric acid descalers, which are highly caustic and can damage fittings and joints over time, URI-Klearpath is formulated to dissolve only uric acid and limescale deposits, leaving the rest of the system untouched.

How to Use URI-Klearpath

IMPORTANT — always read and follow the instructions below for best results.

Standard flushing grate or trough urinals

  1. Isolate or turn off the water supply temporarily if possible.
  2. Remove as much debris, urine and water from the waste trap and pipes as possible. URI-Klearpath will still work in pipes or traps full of urine, but ensure there is enough capacity to add the product — it will take longer to work if the system is full.
  3. Apply 1 x 500ml directly to a urinal that is flowing slowly (2–3 x 500ml for trough urinals).
  4. Wait 10 minutes, then reconnect the water supply or flush to confirm the blockage is cleared.
  5. Blockages deep within the pipework system may need additional product or a second application, particularly if there was a high level of water or urine present before application.

Waterless and waterfree cartridge urinals

  1. Remove the cartridge to expose the drain. Do not apply URI-Klearpath via or through the cartridge — it needs to bypass the cartridge and go directly into the pipework.
  2. Wait 10 minutes, then flush water down to confirm the blockage is cleared.
  3. Blockages deep within the pipework system may need additional product or a second application.

Reduced-flushing bacterial urinal sleeves

  1. Isolate or turn off the water supply temporarily if possible, and remove the sleeve or dome from the urinal grate.
  2. Remove as much debris, urine and water from the waste trap and pipes as possible.
  3. Apply the product directly to the area where the blockage is located.
  4. Wait 10 minutes, then reconnect the water supply or flush to confirm the blockage is cleared.
  5. Blockages deep within the pipework may need additional product or a second application. The first application typically helps open the drains, allowing more direct access to uric scale build-up on the second.

      Brilliant for Waterless urinal maintenance

      GB

Excellent product all in all. Easy to use and with frequency dosing you can actually see the pipes clear of uric acid. I’ve used this as an unblocked too as I ran out of that product. Did the job in minutes. Can’t thank the product enough.

Improved flow rate and draining of gents urinals on a large site with over 400 employees

      GB

We ordered 20L of this product as we are a large site with over 400 employees with a 24/7 site which as you can imagine the urinals get a lot of use daily. This product worked very well when our urinals were getting slower at draining due to build up within the waste pipes. We regularly use this product in our routine site maintenance which is protecting our urinal waste pipes in the process. We recommend this product as this has helped to prevent costly plumbing repairs and also where we can’t afford for the site toilets to be out of use for the site due to the 24/7 operation.
