EN740 Metal Degreaser Concentrate, 25L

Wash away oil, grease and dirt, and leave steel parts protected against rust. Mix EN740 with water at 1:24, clean the parts, then let them dry. They keep a thin, water-soluble inhibitor film that helps prevent flash rusting on mild steel while they wait for assembly, storage or use.

Engineering workshops, machine shops, hydraulic servicing teams and polyurethane processors across the UK can use EN740 to clean and protect parts in one step, whilst cutting the cost of buying and using separate degreasing and rust-prevention products.

Three steps: wash, wipe, dry

1. Wash. Soak, agitate, spray or brush the parts in the diluted solution.
2. Wipe. Lift the parts out and wipe off loose residue.
3. Dry. Let the parts air dry, or use compressed air or a clean dry cloth. The protective film stays on the metal.

Don’t dilute beyond 1:24. A weaker mix cleans less well and gives less corrosion protection. You can reuse the solution until it becomes heavily contaminated.

Suitable metals

EN740 cleans mild and carbon steel, cast iron, aluminium and its alloys, stainless steel, copper, brass and mixed-metal assemblies. Mild and carbon steel benefit most, because the inhibitor film targets them.

Typical uses include automotive and vehicle maintenance, hydraulic servicing and reconditioning, CNC machining, fabrication and metalworking, and general maintenance and repair.

Quick answers

How much EN740 do I need for 100 litres? Add 4L of EN740 to 96L of water.

How long does the rust protection last? Up to 3 months on mild steel stored indoors, depending on conditions. Don’t store cleaned parts outdoors.

Do I need to rinse? No. Rinsing isn’t needed for corrosion protection on mild steel. Wipe off loose residue and dry the part.

Can I use EN740 hot? Yes. Use it at ambient temperature, or heat it up to 40°C in ultrasonic baths, cabinets and machines.

Safety and storage

EN740 carries a Danger classification for serious eye damage (H318). Wear eye protection and gloves, and read the SDS before use. Keep unused product in its original sealed container, somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight.
